December '12 Update

Wow, the year's gone by so fast!  In the past few months:
~I've started my own Etsy shop (Hannamade knits)
~I've had an open house party for Hannamade Knits
~I've knit and designed gloves, scarves, and coin purses
~I've started to make jewelry again
But, I can assure you that I've been busy with knitting, school, and designing.

Twisted Rib iPad Case

Over spring break, I went to Angelwings Needle Arts in Southport, NC and searched though the store for beautiful new yarns.  In the sale rack, I found a few skeins of Colora by Lang Yarns.  There was a few skeins of teal and green, but what caught my eye was the rainbow skeins, so then I purchased two.

I used a pattern by KnitToday's mini book 10 Fabulous gifts to knit.

Long Time, No Blog...

Hi!  So lately I've been busy at school and making projects, but I decided I'll post them all now.  A few will be up tonight, while others are maybe next week.

Cable Fingerless Gloves Pattern

Hi!  This is my pattern for the fingerless gloves that I love making. 

Materials:  One set of US 10 1/2 double pointed needles
                  One skein of Vanna's Choice Lion Brand Yarn (or and other worsted weight yarn)
                  One cable needle
                  One tapestry needle
Abbreviations:  K=knit
                          P=purl
                          CO=cast on
                          BO=bind off
Right Glove:
1) CO 36 stitches and seperate onto three needles. 
2) Join needles, being careful not to twist stitches. 
3) For one inch, *K2 P2* repeat from *
4) *K12 stitches, P2, K8, P2, K12* is one round.  Repeat for five rounds.  (A total of six rounds not ribbed have been done)
5) K12, P2, place next 4 stitches on cable needle.  Hold cable needle behind the project, and K4.  K 4 stitches off the cable needle. P2 K to the end of the round.
6) Repeat steps 4 and 5 until glove measures 5 inches in length (top of needle to bottom edge of glove)
7) K12, P2 (if needed, use the cable needle for the next four stitches) K8, P2, K4, BO 6, K2
8) K12, P2, K8, P2, K4, CO 6 (I used a cable cast on and then used my cable needle to transfer the stitches so I could flip them to the origional needle, the tail of the yarn at the left end and finish off the round) K2.
9) *K12, P2, K8, P2, K12* for one inch
10) *K2, P2* repeat from the * for one inch
11) BO all stitches
12) weave in ends

Left Glove:
1) CO 36 stitches and seperate onto three needles.

Happy (Belated) Birthday Mom!

Happy (Belated) Birthday Mom!  Wednesday (yesterday) was my mom's 41st birthday, and for her birthday, I made her  a pair of fingerless gloves in an avacado green Vanna's Choice Lion Brand yarn.  This is my second pair of fingerless gloves that I've made (the other in a baby pink) and I've made some modifications, like adding ribbing on the ends and doing a right cable on the right glove and a left cable on the left glove.  The gloves were simple, they only took a few hours to make and like all of my own patterns, I'll post my patterns online.

Bully Woolies Coin Purse

Hi!  In June, I made a little felted coin purse from a Bully Woolies kit that I bought at a local yarn shop.  Just today, I sewed on the button and finished it off.  The coin purse was my first project using double pointed needles and I'm using it as the project to teach my neighbor how to knit with double pointed needles.  This was the "Jewel" colored coin purse kit.  It was fairly easy, even though it was my first time using double pointed needles.  The coin purse is roughly 4" by 4", and very compact.  I recommend making this if you want a quick and easy project.
